Karen Lucas, professora de Geografia Humana e diretora do Manchester Urban Institute (Reino Unido), ministrará a Palestra Magna "Addressing the Mobility Trap in Global South Cities", um dos destaques da programação do 40º Congresso de Pesquisa e Ensino em Transportes (ANPET). A atividade será realizada no dia 26 de outubro, às 18h30.

A palestra trará uma reflexão sobre pobreza de transporte, acessibilidade e justiça social, abordando os desafios enfrentados pelas cidades do Sul Global e caminhos para a construção de políticas de mobilidade mais inclusivas, tema central para o planejamento do setor de transportes nos próximos anos.

Com mais de 25 anos de experiência conectando pesquisa social e prática no setor de transportes, Karen Lucas é referência mundial em transporte e justiça social, com atuação tanto no Norte quanto no Sul Global. É diretora da INTALInC (International Network for Transport and Accessibility in Low Income Communities), rede global que promove a justiça no transporte em cidades do Sul Global, e já desenvolveu avaliações sociais para projetos viários no Reino Unido e no País de Gales.

40th ANPET welcomes Karen Lucas for a keynote lecture on the mobility trap in Global South cities

Karen Lucas, Professor of Human Geography and Director of the Manchester Urban Institute in the United Kingdom, will deliver the keynote lecture “Addressing the Mobility Trap in Global South Cities”, one of the highlights of the 40th Congress on Transport Research and Education (ANPET). The lecture will take place on October 26 at 6:30 p.m.

The lecture will explore transport poverty, accessibility, and social justice, addressing the challenges faced by cities in the Global South and possible pathways toward more inclusive mobility policies - an issue of growing importance for transport planning in the coming years.

With more than 25 years of experience connecting social research with practice in the transport sector, Karen Lucas is a world-leading expert on transport and social justice, with extensive work in both the Global North and the Global South. She is Director of INTALInC - the International Network for Transport and Accessibility in Low Income Communities, a global network dedicated to promoting transport justice in Global South cities. She has also developed social assessments for major road projects in the United Kingdom and Wales.
